Yeah, really. That’s what it says. Destination Hamburgers of the Hudson Valley. Because who among us doesn’t crave peanut butter on their pork belly burger?r
The fictional town of Morgansburg, where The Brooklyn North Murder is set, is on the other side of the Hudson from where I live in Woodstock, but neither shore has been immune to the hipster invasion from the city. (You dare to ask “what city”? There is only one City, and if you’re in a hurry, it’s 90 miles down the road from here. )
This week, we explore the destination burger, as kindly explained for need-to-know hipsters here. Okay, in fairness, there are atrocities out there that make the Anchor’s peanut butter and banana burger (called “The Elvis,” natch) look tame. The Luther Burger comes to mind. Who doesn’t want their bacon cheeseburger served on a Krispy Kreme glazed donut? (The misspelling is apparently obligatory.)
Nice try, Paula Deen. But for the ultimate sweet ‘n’ sour mashup, you’ve got nothing on the Hudson Valley’s own The Anchor. Their own description needs no embellishment: “Peep Burger! Don’t knock it until you try it! Kilcoyne Beef, Salted Peanut Butter, Bacon, and Marshmallow Peeps! All on a Brioche Bun.”
Yeah, the destination burger. It’s really a thing.
