It’s been a pretty good week for orchids in the garden, including this first-time bloomer that I gave up on so long ago I can’t even remember its name.

And these two are opening up nicely, although I had to hack back the neighboring columbine to give them room.

But this week really belongs to the true Byrdcliffe Garden — up there on the Guardian Mt. Hiking Trail. Wild Lady’s Slippers!

But that was nothing compared to our favorite hike out to Huckleberry Point. 8 Lady’s Slippers on the trail proper. 31 on the shortcut home. Not to mention a whole bunch of crazy scented pinkster azaleas. Happy spring!
