St. John of God

St. John of God St. John of God

11 March 2017
Technically, March 11 belongs to St. Constantine of Cornwall and Govan, Scotland's first martyr. (COD: bled to death after his right arm was hacked off by bandits. As tends to happen.) St. John of God is technically March 8. But given he's the patron saint of booksellers, and I finally wrestled Ryland's Bride into a state where I could send it out to my editors on that day, it's close enough.
Then again, he is the patron saint of madmen and alcoholics as well. But before you ask me to define the fine line that distinguishes those from book people, take a look out my back door and ask yourself where a Catskill gardener fits into that continuum.
Still, there is one wintry saving grace for a writer of detective fiction...(Back to the garden...)
